Highlight of Tourism in Turkey
|
|
Turkey is a truly magnificent destination that is ideal for all kinds of tourists, from single people and couples to families and large parties. The Republic of Tukey, as it is officially named, has coastlines alongside the Mediterranean Sea, the Aegean Sea, the Marmara Sea and the Black Sea, which are all extremely popular spots among tourists. As a result of the country`s incredibly diverse history and its geographical positioning amongst Europe, Asia and the Middle East, Turkey is not only of significant cultural interest to visitors but it is also a beautiful and economically stable country. Moreover,
Turkey will possibly enter the European Union before much longer, which could further enhance its standing among tourists. When choosing a hotel in Tukey, it is first important to note that the country operates a three star hotel rating system. That is, by and large, a hotel will be either 3 stars, 4 stars or 5 stars. Obviously, 3 stars are attributed to hotels that offer the lowest overall quality, although in Tukey this does not necessarily mean that it is all that bad. In fact, the general standard of hotels in Turkey is very high, which is not an exceptional point to note in consideration of how important tourism is to the country. Nevertheless, tourist will want to look our for 5 or 4 star hotels wherever possible. As previously mentioned,
Turkey offers tourists a diverse range of places to stay and things to do and see. Unless travelling around is a desirable option for the tourist, in which case he or she ought to be looking for good quality 3 star hotels that offer competitive one or two night prices, it is obviously necessary to consider where to stay in the country, which will largely influence what sort of hotel will be chosen. Indeed, if staying somewhere inland, tourists will want a hotel that has excellent services and amenities
– a good quality pool, for example, is essential if not staying near the coast. With summer temperatures in Turkey usually deep into the thirty degree celsius range, it is also important that the hotel chosen has sufficient air conditioning, as otherwise the nights may be unbearable for those who are less accustomed to the exceptional heat.
However, many visitors to Turkey will flock to the coastal regions in order to enjoy the glorious hot sunshine in beautiful clean waters. In fact, with some 8,000 kilometres of shoreline available, tourists are spoilt for choice as to where to head.
Therefore, popular tourist destinations in Turkey include Istanbul, predominantly because it is the most well known and largest of cities in the country, Antalya, which offers some truly exceptional beaches and historic culture, Ankara, which experience very hot temperatures in summer, Cappadocia, Pamukkale,Ephesus, Diyarbakir, Mardin and Troy. When choosing a hotel in a coastal resort, it is always important to consider the walking distance to and from the beach in addition to the availability of bars and restaurants in the surrounding area. Indeed, whilst many good hotels will offer their own superb restaurants, a more varied and authentic holiday can be had from sampling the local cuisine in local restaurants. Furthermore, with the beaut iful beaches so fundamental to Turkey`s tourism industry, it is vital to select a hotel that is within easy walking distance of beaches that are not overly crowded

Anzac Day in Turkey
|
Anzac Day takes place every
year on the 25th of April,
the day the Anzac troops
landed at, what is known as,
Anzac Cove. Attendance at
the Anzac Day dawn service
at Gallipoli has become
popular since the 75th
anniversary. Upwards of
10,000 people have attended
services in Gallipoli.
Until 1999, the Gallipoli
dawn service was held at the
Ari Burnu war cemetery at
Anzac Cove, but the growing
numbers of people attending
resulted in the construction
of a more spacious site on
North Beach, Gallipoli,
known as the "Anzac
Commemorative Site".
On 25 April 2005, to mark
the 90th anniversary of the
Gallipoli landing,
government officials from
Australia and New Zealand,
most of the last surviving
Gallipoli veterans, and many
Australian and New Zealand
tourists traveled to Turkey
for a special dawn service
at Gallipoli. Anzac Day is
the most important national
day of commemoration for
Australians. The previous
Prime Minister of Australia,
John Howard, and the then
Prime Minister of New
Zealand, Helen Clark were
also in attendance, and
Clark was accompanied by the
official NZ Defense Force
party, veterans of several
past wars and 10 New Zealand
college students, who won
the New Zealand 'Prime
Minister's Essay
Competition' with their work
on Gallipoli.
A common tradition amongst
the people of Australia and
New Zealand is to bake Anzac
biscuits to remember the
soldiers who died fighting
for "King and country". It
has become a tradition
because the biscuits were
often sent to loved ones
based in Gallipoli because
the ingredients did not
spoil easily and kept well
during naval transportation.
In the Gallipoli Peninsula
Historical National Park, an
11,000 people capacity
portable tribune has been
built in the Anzac Cove and
Lone Pine Commonwealth War
Graves Commission Cemetery
Lone Pine Memorial region
